What to Expect at Your Fingerprinting Appointment
If you've never been fingerprinted before, it's completely normal to have questions. The good news: the process is quick, straightforward, and nothing to stress about. Here's exactly what to expect when you come in for your ink card fingerprinting appointment at Easyway Fingerprinting & Notary.
Step 1: Book Your Appointment
Start by scheduling your appointment online. Choose a date and time that works for you. Walk-ins may be available based on scheduling, but booking in advance guarantees your spot and minimizes wait time.
Step 2: Gather What You Need
Before your appointment, make sure you have the following:
- A valid, government-issued photo ID — driver's license, passport, or state ID
- Your fingerprint card(s) — if your employer or agency provided them, bring those. If not, we supply the appropriate card (FD-258, SF-87, Maryland, or other)
- Your ORI number or agency code — if your employer or licensing board provided one, have it handy

Step 3: Arrive at Our Location
We are located at 6 Gramatan Avenue, Suite 607, Mount Vernon, NY. Plan to arrive a few minutes early so we can get you checked in and started on time.
Step 4: The Fingerprinting Process
Once you're checked in, the actual fingerprinting takes just a few minutes. Here's what happens:
- Your technician will verify your ID and confirm the card type needed
- Each finger is carefully rolled in ink and pressed onto the card in the designated boxes
- We take flat impressions of all four fingers and both thumbs as well
- If a print doesn't come out clearly, we'll redo it to ensure quality
The entire appointment typically takes 10–15 minutes from start to finish.
Step 5: Review and Payment
Once your card is complete, we'll review it with you to confirm everything looks good. Payment is collected at the time of service.
- Ink card fingerprinting — $65 per card
- Notary services — $2 per signature (if needed at the same visit)
Step 6: Submit Your Card
After your appointment, you'll submit your completed fingerprint card to the requesting agency, employer, or licensing board — either by mail or in person, depending on their instructions. We do not submit cards on your behalf, so be sure to follow your agency's specific submission guidelines.
Tips for a Smooth Appointment
- Wash and dry your hands before arriving — clean, dry skin produces the clearest prints
- Avoid lotions or hand creams on the day of your appointment
- Know your card type before you arrive — when in doubt, ask your employer or licensing board
- Bring all required forms — some agencies require additional paperwork alongside the fingerprint card
